Resident Artists

Jeremiah Jacobs

“In my Art, I like to pursue humor and adventure in dealing with shape and form, color and pattern. My sculptures tend towards anamorphism as I create shapes that have their own character and strong presence. Lately, I have been investigating political art lately as a way to harness my heavy emotions toward our current social climate. Art is a perfect escape from the weight of our times, while also functioning as a release or an escape from reality in which we live. I aim to continue my exploration of mediums, subject matter, and locales, so that I may realize my full potential as an Artist and contribute positively toward society.”

Brent Sheehan

“I gained a lot of experience in my career while in Hawaii, from starting my own shop in Haiku Maui to moving to the Big Island and working with glass in various shops renting studio time. In 2014 I moved back to Northern California to immerse myself in glass and began working at Orient and Flume Art Glass where I was Gaffer glassblower until 2019. During my residency there, I began to advance into mastery level with California style torch work detail, Swedish techniques and hot glass sculpting.” “I started taking classes at Pratt Fine Arts in Seattle in 2017, where I was also a Teacher Assistant for Karen Willenbrink Johnson in 2018. Since then, I’ve enjoyed sharing my love for glasswork with people I’ve met in different cities. I was invited to teach workshops at Glass Sutra, Delhi in 2018, bringing hot glass sculpting techniques and studio glass culture to India.” We look forward to working with Brent and seeking inspiration from his love for the craft and astounding work.

Matthew Piepenbrok

"Matthew R K Piepenbrok was born in 1976 on a navy base in Connecticut and then raised in rural Wisconsin from the age of one. It is here in Wisconsin where his aesthetic and sensibility of glass was formed. With a fascination and obsession for all things glass at a young age he had his first bite of glass at the age of 10. Through continual education and exploration of glass working and Anthropology he has accumulated several fine arts degrees and anthropology from three universities in the Wisconsin System, receiving his AAS in 2005, Double Major BFA’s in 2010 and the MFA in 2013. Matt has found his love in glass to be the intrinsic nature of glass and object viewer relationship that guides and defines culture and individuality." "The artist is an important and highly prized integral part of modernity. The artist is the basis of exploration and expression in a growing world of visual communication. Humanity has been constantly surrounded by the choices of artist and how they choose to express their visual language through objects and culture. Understanding, researching and teaching these principles has been a cornerstone to his artistic education and personal life as an artist."
